Sleep Important to Losing Baby Weight
So you’ve had a baby. Congrats. But did extra weight that you just can’t seem to lose come with your new little bundle of joy?
If so, an easy (maybe) answer might be to sleep it off. Research has found that mothers who sleep for five or less hours a day were three-times more likely to still be carrying the extra weight six months later than mothers who got a more adequate amount of sleep at night. In fact, they were likely to be carrying an average of an extra eleven pounds.
This may be easier said than done, though, for mothers with new babies. Their sleep patterns aren’t set and many don’t sleep through the night. However, the research found that even just an extra two hours of sleep on top of whatever moms get can be beneficial to staying healthy.
How to get that extra sleep? Researchers are working on that one.
In the meantime, if possible, we suggest putting Daddy on baby duty for the afternoon or, when you can, take a nap while your baby naps, too.
