Limit-Setting Sleep Disorder

Description

Limit-setting sleep disorder is prevalent among children as a result of parents not making them go to bed and their consequent refusal to go to bed when they should. When the rules are enforced, the child will fall asleep quickly without trouble. If unchecked, this disorder can lead to poor sleep hygiene and irregular sleep scheduling.

Diagnosis

Patients generally refuse to go to bed when they should but when they do go to sleep, they sleep easily.

Treatment

Once a regular sleep schedule is established and enforced, the disorder will go away.
